50 years of Pangamin

BIFI PANGAMIN is a natural preparation containing 50% of yeast biomass and 50% acidified defatted (skimmed) milk semiproduct with content of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli cultures with dietetic-protective effects. Brewer's yeasts are a natural source of group-B vitamins, enzymes, trace elements, and other substances having unsubstitutable role in the organism. The presence of useful microflora is important predominantly for restoration of bacterial balance after its disruption caused by external factors like antibiotic treatment, ionizing radiation, improper nutrition, stress influences, etc. PANGAMIN BIFI supports healthy digestive process, function of liver, kidney, and other organs; it has a positive influence on immune system. It influences absorption of important nutrients in a decisive way. It is recommended by high psychical or physical load and sport activities.

Effect of prebiotics and probiotics

Pangamin BIFI Prebiotics contain constituents (like brewer's yeasts) stimulating the activity of beneficial microflora of large intestine. Prebiotics offer substrate to beneficial microorganisms by which they stimulate their multiplication. Probiotics are products containing one or more living and vital microbial species affecting the organism in such a way that the composition of intestinal microflora gets improved.
Prebiotics – inulin – stimulates the growth and activity of intestinal microflora.

Effects of probiotic bacteria:

  • They suppress the growth of pathogenic microorganisms through formation of lactic acid, acetatic acid, and butyric acid (they suppress putrescent processes and counteract against constipation).
  • They have immunity stimulating effect – they protect against pathogens (stimulate immunity), increase resistance against bacterial infections.
  • They help to restore normal intestinal microflora in period of convalescence, mainly after antibiotic and radiation treatment.
  • They produce group-B vitamins (including B12), vitamin K, facilitate absorption, and utilization of vitamins.
  • They improve absorption and more effective utilization of many types of minerals from food – calcium, iron, and some microelements and trace elements (zinc, copper – important from point of view of immunological reactions of the organism).
  • They decrease the cholesterol content in the blood through the support to secretion of bile acids from the organism, thereby decreasing the threat of cardiovascular diseases.
  • They reduce the content of ammonia and toxic amines in blood (e.g. nitrosamines) by inhibition of putrescent bacteria, thereby decreasing danger of formation of large intestine, liver, and kidney cancer.

Probiotic bacteria (bifidobacteria, lactobacteria) have favourable effects in prevention and treatment of digestive tract diseases and of lifestyle diseases.

Vitamins, minerals, trace elements, proteins, and series of other substances contained in yeasts must be viewed as a biological complex representing counterbalance to series of multivitamin preparations despite their relatively low content of active elements. These elements severalfold increase their helpfulness to human organism by their mutual natural impact. Preparations with brewer’s yeast content give you the best of contemporary offer of food supplements.

Probiotics as a regular part of home therapy.

Probiotics + Prebiotics = Synbiotics

Human organism is exposed to impact of many negative influences. Damaged environment, improper lifestyle, and also overuse of antibiotics can cause impairment of natural balance in area of intestinal microflora. This state can lead in long term to disruption of immune reaction in the entire organism. Care about bacterial balance of intestinal mucous membrane then significantly reduces the need of use of supportive vitamin preparations and also of antibiotics.
One of the possibilities of effective influence of intestinal microflora is regular use of probiotics. Probiotics are mono or mixed cultures of living organisms that beneficially influence the host's intestinal microflora. We gained the first experiences with regular administration of probiotics more than 10 years ago. We used these preparations in the first years mainly as a part of antibiotic treatment and within therapy of diarrhoeal diseases. However, the spectrum of use was gradually broadened. Currently we recommend the probiotic preparations by every administering of antibiotics since the beginning of antibiotic therapy itself in duration of two or three weeks. Unsubstitutable place of probiotics rests also in treatment of diarrhoeal diseases mainly in child age. The administration of probiotics proved useful in prevention of occurrence of disease by other members of family and in prevention of occurrence of digestive problems during travelling. Important effect of probiotics is being manifested in framework of long-term treatment of allergic diseases. We find further indications for administering in framework of post-surgical care, by digestive tract malfunctions, but it can significantly influence also the course of therapy of acne or constitutional dermatitis. Since the year 2002 we administer Pangamin bifi or Pangamin bifi plus within the above mentioned therapy on our department. This preparation meets the requirements for recommended content of live cultures necessary for sufficient of probiotic therapy. It is well tolerated also during long-term administering also because of its composition based purely in natural substances. The mentioned preparations can be already classified into a group of synbiotics in regard to enrichment of Pangamin bifi and Pangamin bifi plus tablets by prebiotic inulin. The preparations combining the prebiotics and probiotics are marked as synbiotics.

Pangamin Bifi and Pangamin Bifi plus are the regular part of current treatment of our children patients. In last five years we prescribed them to several thousands of hospitalized patients.
